'The Jah Torch' is the group of Nama Cisse, aka Ras Nama one of the newest reggae vocalists and musicians on the Russian scene. Truly, he is firmly holding aloft the perpetual flame of Bob Marley in Russia! The genesis of his musical career dates back to the 1970s, when Ras Nama was in his teens and growing up in the small Senegalese city of Kidira. In 1992, just after the collapse of the USSR, he came here to study electrotechnics and eventually to sing (in English and French) "the songs of freedom" which he writes himself. The group appeared on stage in Moscow clubs but it was at the ISLAND Club where they found themselves a home. Most of the group members have at one time or another played reggae with 'Jah Division'. 'The Jah Torch', masterminded by Rastas is getting the message over to their audiences. "Jah Rastafari has already determined everybody's path and no one can change that. Jah guides us all to undergo spiritual growth. This is one thing we need to recognize in life", says Ras Nama.
