[Russian] Jah Division
"Jah Division" is the name of the first Russian Rastafarian Reggae group. Guera Morales is the son of Leopoldo Morales, Cuban prominent revolutionary and National Hero of the Republic of Cuba who lost his life in Bolivia together with Che Guevara.
In 1991, together with friends Guera formed Jah Division adopting the Rasta Ideology and giving rise to the Rasta movement in Russia.
"Ian'I would write songs together with Jah present", says Guera, "the words would just come over from above and the music ... it was always there, Jah knows. I remember Sasha Delfin suggesting this line: 'The bearded Fidel deceived everyone', to which I added: 'He hung out the sun, but it doesn't shine'. The memory of my father and the high respect for the Cuban revolution that we have always had in my family, would never let me say the first line. This is how our hit song 'Cuba Cubana' was born. Many a good song was written at that time. On Feb 6, 1991 and for the first time in Russia we organized a concert to the memory of Bob Marley.
